Websites like Model Mayhem, but adult work is allowed
Model Mayhem is the default model and photographer network, and it is a genuinely useful one. It is also a portfolio site with an inbox, and its rules do not accommodate explicit adult work. Here is what carries over and what does not.
What a portfolio network is for
Model Mayhem, Purpleport and AdultFolio all solve the same first problem well: they let a model publish a body of work and let a photographer find them. That is not a small thing, and for time-for-print, testing and portfolio building it is often all you need. The audience is large, membership is the whole commercial model, and nobody is taking a cut of a booking.
What they are not is a transaction layer. There is no booking object, so there is no rate agreed in the system, no dated release, no usage licence and no record that ties an identity check to a specific shoot. When a photographer and a model on a portfolio network agree a paid job, everything that makes it a paid job happens somewhere else.
The adult-work problem is a policy problem
Mainstream networks and casting platforms exclude explicit adult work as a matter of policy, and the exclusion is enforced by removing accounts. This is rarely squeamishness on the platform's part. It is downstream pressure from payment processors, app stores and advertisers, and it is why the pattern repeats across otherwise unrelated services. The result for a working model is that the portfolio representing your actual paid work is the portfolio you cannot publish.
The practical consequence is fragmentation: a sanitised portfolio on the mainstream site, the real work on a platform with worse tooling, and clients reached through neither. Our guide on where models can post adult work goes through the landscape platform by platform.

Which one you actually need
If you are building a book, testing, and shooting non-explicit work, a portfolio network is the right tool for the job. If your paid work is adult, if you need the shoot documented before it happens, or if you have been removed from a mainstream network for posting the work you do, the missing piece is not another gallery. It is verification and the paperwork, which is what this is. Pricing is flat and there is no commission either way.
